The CCBI path matters because it is the local official source identified for mugshot and arrest-record searching, while P2C is mainly the current custody and charge roster.
Where to Find Wake County Booking Photos
Start with the official Wake County sources and avoid commercial mugshot-publishing sites. Commercial pages may copy, delay, alter, or monetize information without explaining the underlying court status. The factual path is narrower: use CCBI for Wake arrest and mugshot records, use P2C for current custody and charge context, and use Wake County NextRequest when a specific booking photograph is not available online.
- Open the Wake County Bureau of Forensic Services mugshot and arrest-record application first for the county-specific photo path.

Are Wake County Jail Mugshots Public Record?

How Long a Mugshot Stays Available
The research did not locate a Wake County policy giving a single public retention period for mugshots on P2C or the CCBI application. P2C is primarily a current custody and charge display, and the sample public response did not expose an image. CCBI is described by official snippets as covering Wake County arrests since April 27, 2007, but the full form inventory could not be completed because of access limits during command-line review. Historical availability should therefore be checked against the CCBI application and, when necessary, through a NextRequest public-records request.

County mugshot searching should not be confused with state prison, federal, or immigration custody searches.
